Global research collaboration

We're committed to inclusive, interdisciplinary research that can contribute to both academia and practice in the field of health diplomacy. Thanks to our growing network and initiative around a forthcoming Lancet Series on Diplomacy for Health, our research efforts are grounded in close collaboration with partners in Global South.

Research Group on Global Health Governance and Diplomacy

We are currently focusing on:

  • Reforms and financing of the international system for health
  • Regionalisation and South-South partnerships in health

Lancet Series on Diplomacy for Health

This forthcoming Lancet Series explores the evolving intersection of diplomacy, politics, and public health in the changing geopolitical world order.

Through interdisciplinary research co-led by institutions across the globe, including American University of Beirut, Georgetown University, London School of Economics, Institute for Global Health and Development in Guinea Bissau, National University of Singapore, Karolinska Institutet, and CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies), the Series aims to contribute to the practice, scholarship and education of health diplomacy.

The Series brings together diplomats, health professionals, academics and civil society representatives to explore outcomes of health diplomacy, refine frameworks and definitions in the field, and deepen the understanding of dynamics between national interests and global and regional responsibility in health. Drawing on these insights, the Series will also provide recommendations for the future of health diplomacy.

The Series comprises four papers, anticipated for publication by mid-2026. The target audience includes the community of practice of health diplomacy, defined as spanning both public and private sectors as well as civil society and academia.
